What is Upool?
Upool is a carpool service from U-bicycle and is defined as a driver offering their empty seats to passengers heading the same direction and sharing the costs of the trip with them, without turning a profit.
This service is totally different from major ridehailing companies like Uber and Lyft, whose drivers receive a financial compensation and turns a profit.
Where do I sign up?
No sign-ups required to provide a Upool service.
How do I post a trip?
You can post your trip filling in the form with your trip details on https://u-bicycle.ca/upool
Why do I have to submit my driving record?
The driving record is mandatory for insurance requirement.
How do I request my driving record?
Once you have posted your trip, request your driving record from ICBC online or by phone at 1-800-950-1498 or 604-661-2800 from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Monday- Friday) and request they send a copy of your driving record to email@example.com. We only accept driving records directly from ICBC and not from individuals (exceptions can be made for those with driving records outside of BC).
How do I know if someone books my trip?
When you fill in the trip details form, you will provide us with your phone number and email. When a passenger books your trip, we will notify send you a text or an email.
Can I choose which passengers can get into my car?
U-pool is a pilot program in its early stage; for now, you cannot choose which passengers can get into your car.
How do I contact the passenger? Can I text/call them directly when picking them up?
I can’t provide the carpool on the date I signed up for. What should I do?
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org notifying this at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise you’ll need to pay a penalty.
How do I get paid?
We will pay you via PayPal or bank transfer (min. transfer $20)
How do I book a trip?
You can select the destination at https://u-bicycl.ca/upool then select the available trips posted by the drivers. Then you’ll proceed to the checkout and payment page.
Where will the driver pick me up?
The pickup location will be indicated when you select the trip schedule on our website.
I can’t find the driver on the designated pickup location?
We recommend arriving 5mins early to be safe. If you can’t find the driver, send them a text message or give them a call.
Can I pay cash to the driver directly?
No. You will pay your trip in advance on our website after selecting the trip schedule.
What if I want to cancel my booking? What is the refund policy?
Email us at email@example.com and mention your trip details and code.
If you cancel at least before 24 hours from the trip schedule, we will issue you a 100% refund. If you cancel within the 24 hours before the trip, we will issue you 70% refund.
